The 3rdIED myself and gunner suffered concussions and the A-driver in the vehicle suffered a cracked vertebra in his back. During all incidents there was no sign of enemy presents or any indication that the device was there.
I am married and have 3 kids. My oldest is 6 he lives in Michigan and I only get to see him once every few months. My other two kids are 2 and 1 they both live with me and my wife. My wife is my number one supporter she is very understanding when it comes to my injury and never complains when I cannot do something due to migraine or other problems I might be having at the time. Special awards I have received are Purple Heart for my concussion on my 2ndIED blast, Navy and Marine Corps achievement medal was received for being the lead navigator for my platoon and, and combat action I received for an IED blast I encountered on my 1stdeployment in 2009.
It is difficult being home it’s hard for me to enjoy my family because of my injury. I am currently going through the TBI program on camp Lejeune for further help with my medical issues. The TBI program is a 16 week program that looks at various aspects for treatment such as Mental health, balance treatment, speech therapy for memory problems, and are assigned a physician assistant for pain such as medications for headaches and sleep. I have just began this program and am learning more about it every day from my opinion this is a good system that they have in place and is helping my situation substantially.
